Sensience and Consciousness - What's the Difference?
I think it's important to distinguish how you are using those terms because they're not synonymous. consciousness is self-awareness, it's the ability to reflect on what's going on one's mind and report to oneself. It'll be crucial for machines soon will be conscious in the sense of having this insight into their own minds. That's a clever trick, it was invented by nature a long time ago probably involving some kind of global workspace. And it'll be repeated as we adopt the same tricks and go on there.
