The Different Purposes of Games
If you're designing a game, what's its purpose? You know, who's your audience and what are you trying to do for them? That should be at the heart of the conception. And we always will focus on some aspects of a historical setting because it's a model. Now think about a history book. The entire affair of professionally studying history and trying to illuminate how did things work. There's always a focus. There’s always simplification. But we have simplified to a purpose. We've taken out details. We've bounded what can happen. All to do what? To explore some topic, some aspect of some topic to teach, to teach something about something.
