The House Judiciary Committee's Decision to Use Public Hearings for Investigative Purposes
i think one of the strategic decisions that the committee has made is that it is not going to use public hearings at all for investigative purposes. Rather, the purpose of these hearings is almost like an oral report. It's to present findings using the format of an investigative hearing. So they have sworn witnesses, but they totally already know what they're going to say and its kind of pre cooked. And you know, while i agree that it was effective, i also think there's something a little bit unappetizing about the use of the investigative form as kind of like a middle school book report.
