The Dangers of a Green New Deal
Some argue that a degree new deal would require too much complicity with the Bushwa state and we should just say no. I think one has to be careful in particular by the extent to which some of the language around industrial policy is really focused on the idea of China as this threat arrival to the United States. There's another problem for why a green new deal or broader industrial policy can't work, says Julian Zelizer. The question of whether the US state in its current form actually has the institutional capacity to carry out that kind of economic planning is a deeper problem than overcapacity argument.
