The Battle of Dathong
By August, the going was getting very rough. Civil servants were all saying, maybe it's not the best idea to bring the emperor with us. But Wang-Jun wouldn't hear it. He said the emperor stays. On September 1st, the army awoke to the Mongols who had quietly surrounded them. Battle ensued, and when almost finished, about half the remaining Ming army was gone.
