What Is Walnut Woods?
The Walnut Woods project was started by a student named Josie Backers and her mom, Susan DiBala. The 10-acre plot of land next to the high school in Evanston had been an eyesore for years. A retired man who is passionate about growing trees helped teach students how to grow them from seed. It's now being used as a habitat restoration area.
