The Future of Software Development

The world is big, but the exposure I see from today's developers it's very, very fast, very loose. Not a lot of emphasis on making sure your architecture is right. How about just building an application that doesn't go down for 30 seconds when everybody logs in on Monday morning? And even those systems have trouble being reliable and not going down.
