A Woman at War, the Icelandic Film
What it's about is crisis of masculinity, middle age. He talks at one point abouthefat t he just simply couldn't deal with the life that he had. It kind of comes apart in the third act when it becomes rather more formulaic and rather more so, obviously, knock about and over the top. But the reason it works is because that central performance is played straight. So it's not played, i mean, it is funny, but he doesn't play in a kind of goofy chomedic way. You sort you sympathize with him, but at the same time you understand that what he's doing is utterly ridiculous. Also reminded me of that film, a woman
