The International Brigades and the African American Volunteers in the Spanish Civil War

The International Brigades was made up of people who were already exiles from, you know, right-wing authoritarian dictatorships in Europe. And also a quarter of the people who volunteered for the International Brigades were Jewish. People clearly saw Spain as not only an opportunity to kind of show their solidarity to Spaniards and to Spanish democracy but they also saw an opportunity to continue battles that they were already fighting at home.
