Islamic state has now been driven out of the zidi homeland, mount sinjar. Yet it seems their suffering continues because mount sinjar is contested territory. The araki government claims its people as their own, yet the kurdish regional government competes for the yezidis loyalty. And according to shelley kittleson, this has left munities and indeed whole families, bitterly divided.
