Pediatric Spondylolysis
Plane radiographs are considered a first line diagnostic test for suspected spondylolysis. Bone scan with SPECT is superior to plane radiographs but limited by high rates of false positive and false negative results. Recent studies have shown MRI to have equal sensitivity and specificity while also having the advantage of avoiding unnecessary radiation exposure.
