Film Review
My real crisis in writing the novel was the first time i had paul von hartman, the german character, encounter hitler. I wanted to try and convey what hitler was like to his associates or to a junior foreign office official. The advantage of a novel is you don't acturally have to have an act of portraying hitley that so, so, you know, you just write about him. And i think in the film, although the actor doesn't look much like hitler, i think his bortrayal of hitler is first rate. It's unnerving, isn't it?
