The President's Defense of the Espionage Act
As president, the law that applies to this case is not the Espionage Act, but very simply the Presidential Records Act. There's no espionage involved in this case. And the word espionage is very prejudicial. The first motion I would make if I were the defense lawyer is to strike the word espionage and warn the prosecution that if they ever use the word espionage, they'll be in this trial.
