The Illuminati and the Freemasons

Within the Freemason organization, a schism had grown over how the group should be conducted. The right of strict observance broke apart after holding a convention in Wilhelm's bod on July 16, 1782. Most of the Lodges went their separate ways, never to associate with each other again. Charles of Hesse Castle and Christoph Baud brought their Lodges into the fold of the Illuminati by early 1783. Kenigas suggested an alliance with the separated Germanic Lodges in the form of a federation.
