Salting is a way to organize within companies and draw people to their cause. It's been around for a while, but it has become more popular as organized labor in the U.S. declines. The campaign at Starbucks involved about 50 workers who went public with plans to unionize together. They were able to do so without being fired or accused of disloyalty.
