George Loman: A Bowling Freak
A player has taken 200 wickets in a first class season 59 times. All of them have happened in English seasons. The most wickets ever take in a season outside England anywhere is 116. George Loman was born just down the road from the oval in Kennington. He plays for Surrey but doesn't bowl much at all in the season. In 1892, he gets diagnosed with tuberculosis and misses two county cricket seasons. And that's only because they had to go somewhere dry and hot rather than moist.
