Dogs have clearly existed in the Chernobyl region for a long time. Maybe before the disaster, maybe some of these dogs survive the disaster and are have contributed to the gene pool as well. They also say that designing genome-wide association studies to find radiation survival loci using conventional methods will be difficult in this population.
