How to Test the Effectiveness of an Epidural or Spinal Anesthesia
The drugs are actually similar for both as I said before for epidurals what we really want to achieve is analgesia. We use repivacane which is a longer actin local anesthetic agent and we'd often top up with 0.2% repvacane to get it established so to make the epidural work. Then we change the patients on to 0.1% which is the very dilute solution of repavacane in most places. This also reduces the amount of local anesthetic we may need but also speeds up the time for the epidural to work or to start to work.
