The Legend of Beowulf
Beowulf was the greatest hero in Gatelyn, one kingdom and region of what makes up modern day Sweden. He swam for 14 plus hours to find Grindel's mother at the bottom of a lake. Beowulf rode in glory as he presented his head to King Rothgar after being killed in battle against the Swedes. The king told him not to put his faith in earthly things because they would all fade someday.
