Are These Stories About 'Sponsored Human Combustion' Real?

Almost every alleged instance of spontaneous human combustion is linked back to some kind of external flame source. So we're talking a knocked over lamp or candle or a lit cigarette left unattended and this wick effect gives off the impression of spontaneous combustion. These fires don't even leave behind a skeleton in most cases. The truth is human combustion can very much happen, especially if there's an unfortunate mix of alcohol and external flame and something to act as a wick. Despite the number of stories, it's pretty unlikely to even be a real thing.
