The Normal Invasion of Wales

The first normans come into wales in ten 67, and they set up what are now chepstow and monmouth. They're the first people to really circulate coins in large numbers in wales for the purpose of being able to collect those coins back into taxes. And it creates a two tier society where we have a kind of native wales in the northwest, and conquered whales in the south and east. There's quite a modern economy. And then there's a kind of economic, trying to avoid this word backward, but really quite economically backward, north and west in wales. All of that really starts with the arrival of the normans.
