Holmes, Watson and merriweather followed the pair from the cellar. They were being held for questioning over a bank robbery in London's East End. It was revealed that they had been trying to get an assistant out of their way every day so he could carry on with his work. The two rogue pawnbrokers would place adverts for temporary office space which enabled them to avoid each other at all costs. Their ingenious method may have been suggested by the colour of clay's accomplice's hair - it was blonde.
