Is the Constitution a Moral or Immoral Structure?
The original compromise constitution had an underlying realist compromise that basically said to the south, you know, stay in in exchange for the preservation of slavery. What lincoln was saying with te emancipation proclamation was, we're never going back to that compromise. Once you've said that, it entails a principle of equality. It means that white people and black people are going to be equal before the law.
