Introduction
George Gunkalves is head of US Macro Strategy at MUFG. He says the Fed's aggressiveness on their tightening side almost feels like they're fixing one policy mistake from the past with another by not really taking into account these long and variable legs as well as the ongoing QT. The big one here, which I think also has been kind of percolating out there is the idea that somehow the US can decouple from the rest of the world; it's going to be hard for the US to overcome that if truly we're starting to see a global recession start to form in different areas of the world.
