What Do You Expect People to Do?
The majority of the British population would now like to see increases in spending on public spending, not decreases. It's going to be very difficult for the government to keep up with inflation running at 10% and the government will not feel that it's able to raise wages by 10%. And at the same time, we're in a situation in which the financial markets have lost confidence. The government isn't going to be able to get into a situation of being able to borrow more and spend more to get out of this crisis.
