Introduction

The first suspect arrested in connection to this week's mass shooting made his first brief appearance in court yesterday. Martin is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, but he hasn't been charged with a crime directly connecting him to the shootings. Police have also announced third arrest stemming from the shootings. Davion dawson was allegedly seen carrying a gun after the incident and will be charged with possessing a firearm despite being prohibited from having one. 19 community groups are calling on state leaders to invest three billion dollars in local programmes to support crime survivors and help interrupt cycles of violence.
