The defendants expected to say they are attempting a citizen's arrest of a robbery suspect acting in self defence. The one out of 11 from black jurors is exactly what black people, black advocates and black lives matter protesters point to when they talk about how the justice system works against them. This case is one of those that has pushed this country to have a different conversation about race.
