The History of Hemp
King James required all colonial farmers at Jamestown to grow Indian hemp on their farms. The hemp plant was widely used in the colonies for rope, clothing, and other fabrics. Even presidents Washington and Jefferson grew hemp on their plantations. Hemp cannabis was one of the largest players on the world market.
