In my first impressions of berlin were, of course, of extraordinary drabness. There was a long steel ladder leading up into the south west corner of the building where the british army had established an observation post. And i climbed up this with my soldiers, and there at the top was this observation post being manned. And looking down, there was the innin of the construction of this wall, a lot of a pcs and water canno and everything else. So that was really my ar, my first impression. But actually, at that time, it was very exciting as well, and remarkable to see this great threat, you know, from just the side, actually
