The soldier occupies the space as if he is a victim. It's concentrated by an identity and experience you don't have. I'm going to be angry at you. Don't thank me for my service if you don't mean it. But this resonates through the white resentment politics of the Trump era and now post-Trump era. There is very much a rhetoric of victim hood explicitly unlike in the discourse around soldiers.
