It's really interesting that you're invoking the root of this discussion of artistic styles, because later on as readers will note and listeners will see when they read the book, the centrality of aesthetics and of detail become really important to the story. It really made me listening to you and thinking of that makes me think of Carlo Ginsburg's work. Did that shape how you thought about this, his work on styles and detail and modes of practice? Indeed, I think indirectly, I don't think that hit home to me until actually after the book was published. That essay by Ginsburg on where he talks about Sherlock Holmes and clues and so on, that one really came home to me Because
