What Are the Questions You Shouldn't Be Asking?
One of the things that will derail people's retirement is not what's happening in the market but how people respond to it. So I've got two favorite quotes about discipline. One is from Abraham Lincoln. He says, discipline is knowing the difference between what you want now versus what you want most. In times of a robust market, a ball market, people want to pile on the risk. And in times of bad markets,. people want to head for the hills and run for safety. It's the worst way for you to create a plan. You have to be disciplined.
