I Love Aldred's Writings

There's a wonderful annotator in the lindesvan gos s which was incomparable early eighth century manuscript. A figure called aldred who came along and wrote what's called an interlinear gloss so that means he wrote in the spaces between the lines of latin text. He also wrote these little notes at the end where he begs that the readers remember him. And there's just something so lovely about this, this hidden note tucked away.
