Is There a Bottleneck?
The limits of what we can photoactiveight per second is maybe ten thousand spikes distributed across different sets of hundred nurons at a time, kind of thing. I think one thing that'll open the door, that's going to change things quite a bit, is voltage. If we use direct readout of voltage, we can get better precision of reading in order to understand what we need to write back.
