Bulgarian peasants, teachers and defecting officers fought guerrilla war for four years. King Boris had never declared war on the Soviet Union. Frank Thompson volunteered to fight in World War II two days before official British Declaration of War. He ends up being parachuted into Bulgaria as part of a SOE mission against Yugoslav partisans who were blocking supply lines from Britain. The Bulgarians are very repressive against these partisans; they're having a hard time of it.
