The Power of Narrative
Lovecraft in order to convey a mood through writing through prose you need narrative. In the story near Lothotep doesn't bring electricity and psychology to humans what he does in the story is he brings the deeper implications of electricity and Psychology to humans that's what drives them crazy. Later on as Nailothotep is spreading madness through the city the narrator goes out and everybody's panicking then the electrical lights of the city start to fade out. This is very much part and parcel of Lovecraft's vision that science itself would disclose a reality that we can't handle through this process by which we develop modern technology and implement it and let it transform our livesthat we are transforming
