The History of Textiles
The Luddites were weavers in the early 19th century who protested against power looms. This sort of violent protest against losing your livelihood was a common thing throughout history and throughout textiles history. You also see classic protectionism where people don't want to have foreign goods come in. The reaction to Indian cotton prints which hit Europe in, well, it started in the 16th century, but they're really big in the 17th and 18th century.
