Starling's Terror
In the book, there is a whole section which is devoted to er the mass repressions of the 19 firstes year. Hundreds of thousands were executed for political crimes. The terror was driven by starling's belief that the soviet union was under siege from foreign enemies. He also believed that there was going to be a new world war and he felt his country might become its main victim.
