The Role of Mouse Models in the Study of the Polio Virus

Vaccines are much more attenuated than these original seven vaccines. They modify their RNA polymerase of the polio virus to be more faithful in the replication, therefore reducing the chances of mutations. And they also prevent recombinations and they change around the genome to reduce the chance of recombinations. So I think the take home message from this paper is that using the use mouse models can improve substantially the safety profile of the vaccine.
