How Does Joan End Up as a Prisoner of the English?
joan is captured by the burgundians at compiene in may 14 30. They sort of hang on to her for ages because they can't quite decide what to do. And then eventually, in december 14 30, she is handed over to the english for a very large sum of money. In terms of the motivations of the burgu ans there, the duke of burgundy's still kind of hedging his bets. He's allied with the french but he's clearly like playing both sides against one another. The valois french don't really seem to care about joan much any longer. So this is a good way of pleasing the english.
