The Technology Behind Stain Glass
Gloucester cathedral east window is the size of a tennis court and was said to be the largest in the world when it was built in the mid fourteenth century. The technology behind stain glass is quite incredible, because to create those colors is slightly counter intuitive. To be able to support such a window required the latest innovations in gothic architectural technology and thefinest stone work tracery. So it's not just about the glass, it's about everything that goes into supporting it.
