The Evolution of Human Consciousness

Psychologist Nicholas Humphrey claims that his work on animal behavior informs the evolution of human consciousness. He says: 'The innate power of my mentality seems to exceed that which is generated by culture' But I challenge myself. Do I assume too much human superiority? Do I undervalue animal mentality? Nick some would claim that human beings are a step function different than the trajectory of the animal world. Others would say that it's a fairly straightforward continuum.
