Liblangth Inequalities in Children
A 12 year old boy is evaluated for liblangth inequality. He has a history of astiomi tus of the left distal femer that was successfully treated. Standing full length radiographs confirm a limb like discrepancy of 20 millimeters, attributable to differences in the length of the pemora. Performing an epiphysiodesis of the disto pemer and proxima tibia results in one point five centimeters per year growth loss on the operative extremity per year. In this case, doing this for three years would result in an estimated near equalization of the limb lengths with a starting leg length discrepancy of four point six centimeters.
