i don't think we're ever going to chuck out the standard model just because most oi predictions are so accurate. A lot of these are adding extra particles, like an extra higgs bozon,. which is important because it sort of mediates how particles get their mass. That's a nice example of how am experimental results spur theory and vice versa. And i guess we're going to have some more experimental results soon with the the large hadron colider starting up again.
