The Role of Spinal Cord Injury in Pre-Adolescent Children
More than 90% of pre-adolescent children who sustain a significant spinal cord injury subsequently develops choliosis. progressive paralytic spinal deformity is uncommon in the post-adolescent patient. Everything has not been shown to be effective in the prevention of scoliosis in the pre-ad adolescent patient with spinal cord injury. A 25 year old man is unresponsive at the scene of a high speed motor vehicle accident and remains obtunded. Initial evaluation in the emergency department reveals a left-sided femoral shaft fracture and a right-sided humeral shaft fracture.
