Ordo liberalism originated in germany. What the ordos believed was that to prevent the take over of the state from the left, i e, socialists or communists. To effect too effectively, sort of fend off threats from both the left and the right, the state needed to take a strong line at producing a legislative and constitutional framework which would lock in some level of individual liberty.
