Covenant Love: A Massive Theme in the Bible
Timothy Scofield's sexual sins meant Philip's go-field dropped his brother but in the Bible it says that Jesus Christ is not ashamed to be called our brother. The innocent one does not distance himself from us in our sin and shame. He draws near and he takes the condemnation himself because that's what love does. Even to undeserving sinners love says I am with you for better for worse, for richer for poor, in sickness and in health, through fame or shame till death and beyond. Covenant makes sense of a healthier sexual ethic and it makes sense of the oppressor oppressed narrative.
