Aaron Carroll: A lot of speculation is circular economy fueled, rather than solving utility problems. He says US stocks trade for 19% of the time; a middle-class person in Nigeria can't access equities from around the world like other countries do. There's an argument to open and democratize some of these markets, he says. But what ends up happening in practice is that a lot of VCs in the crypto space will lock up capital in a project then dump it on retail users months or years later.
