How to Make a Steam Engine for the First Time

In the eighteenth century, steam engines were used to pump water out of coal mines. In the early nineteenth century, people build self propelled steam vehicles. The problem with them is that they're very heavy and hard to steer. But if you put these vehicles on rails, you don't need to worry about steering any more. And then you get the railway boom in britain of the 18 thirties, an th 18 forties and so on. This becomes this amazing new high speed form of transport. It also means that cities that are connected by rail suddenly have a lot more need for horse drawn transport witin those cities - hironically.
