In shakespeare's day, there would have scarcely anyone who wouldn't have seen death up close and personal. To today it is very much sanatized and screened off from us. So it was an important part of life. And i think er, perhaps elizabethan audiences wanted that. But to modern audiences, cause we just don't see that kind of herrific violence up close andpersonal any more, it looks shocking. It plays like titus andronicus.
